Rumor: Mega Man 11 DLC Might Be on the Way

The Blue Bomber’s latest adventure may not be done yet. Some rumors are suggesting more Mega Man 11 content is on its way. A recent update to Mega Man 11’s Steam listing gives the impression that Capcom is bringing in another developer to contribute Mega Man 11 DLC in some way.

In the listing, a post-release branch was added that includes “8ing.” For those who don’t know, 8ing is a Japanese developer that has actually collaborated with Capcom in the past. The studio worked on Tatsunoko vs. CapcomMarvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. However, the studio has yet to work on a Mega Man game.

The listing doesn’t go into any detail about 8ing’s involvement, so there’s no way to determine how big of a role it has in development, if any. It could simply be assisting or Capcom could have completely outsourced development to the outside studio. As with any rumor, it’s important to take this with a grain of salt, as Capcom has yet to announce any form of post-launch DLC for Mega Man 11.

With the critical success of Mega Man 11, it’s likely many fans of the series would be eager to play as the Blue Bomber once again. Considering the eight-year gap between Mega Man 10 and Mega Man 11, DLC would be a nice way to curb fans’ appetite before the next Mega Man game.

Of course, nothing is confirmed as of right now. However, with an upcoming movie on the way, Mega Man may not be leaving the spotlight yet.
