After unveiling Borderlands 3‘s September release date, Gearbox also let loose details about the title’s multiple special editions. There are three in total: Deluxe Edition, Super Deluxe Edition, and Diamond Loot Chest Collector’s Edition. Each special packaging features a host of digital in-game goodies. The specifics about these in-game bonuses were kept under wraps until now. Gearbox has lifted the veil, detailing exactly what consumers can expect to receive from the weapons skins, and Vault Hunter heads and skins.
On the official Borderlands website, Gearbox offered a rundown of every piece of digital content coming in the Deluxe and Super Deluxe Edition purchases. The bonus content includes cosmetic extras for the Vault Hunters, as well as their weapons and gear. There are a total of three cosmetic packs, and one weapons pack. It is unknown if this content will be sold at a later date to those who don’t opt to buy a special edition.
The Retro Cosmetic Pack brings with it a black, red, and tan color scheme for all four Vault Hunters, four different guns, and an Echo Device. Get a glimpse of the old school design below:
Borderlands 3’s Neon Cosmetic Pack brightens things up a bit, with the Vault Hunters all receiving green neon heads and skins, a neon Echo Device, and a neon weapon trinket.
The Gearbox Cosmetic Pack keeps things simple, but eye-catching enough to draw attention. At first glance, the Gearbox-inspired design scheme may appear bland. Yet, within the grey weapon skins are gold accents and green undertones. Get a look at the seven weapon skins and weapon trinket below:
Finally, that classic Borderlands levity enters the picture with the Toy Box Weapons Pack. This pack features four toy guns, each with unique effects, a toy weapon trinket, and a toy grenade mod, the latter of which is not pictured in the image below:
All of Borderlands 3 special editions are currently available for preorder online and at various retailers. They’ll launch when the game itself hits stores for the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on September 13th.
