DOOM Eternal Will Feature a Hub Where DOOM Slayer Can Hang Out

DOOM Eternal executive producer Marty Stratton has revealed that the upcoming title will feature a hub where Doomguy aka DOOM Slayer can spend his free time.

“Should we talk about the hub? Maybe?” Stratton teased during a panel at QuakeCon 2019. “You’ll see kind of, like, where he hangs out. Again, if you care. You’ll see how he spends his free time, and you’ll learn a lot about him through the game, if you look for it and pay attention.”

Elsewhere during the panel, Stratton and creative director Hugo Martin talked about DOOM Slayer’s physique.

“He’s ripping and tearing demons apart all the time,” said Martin. “It’s funny, we had a discussion about that. Does he lift?” I’m like, I don’t…he’s not, like, a bro. You know? I don’t think he drinks protein.”

In case you missed it, id Software revealed more details about DOOM Eternal‘s BATTLEMODE at QuakeCon. The 2v1 mode will feature five playable demons and six maps at launch. Two players will take control of demons while one player will take control of DOOM Slayer and hunt the demons. Where DOOM Slayer comes fully equipped to take on the demons, the demons come armed with their own set of unique abilities to kill the DOOM Slayer.

Following the game’s launch, more maps and demons will be released for free. One of the launch demons, The Revenant, was showcased during QuakeCon.

DOOM Eternal will release on November 22, 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC. We’ll update our readers when we have more information about the free post-launch DLC.
