Concrete Genie Finally Comes to PS4 in October With a Photo Mode and a Deluxe Edition

After a couple of delays, Pixelopus’s colorful, art-centric experience Concrete Genie finally has a solid launch date. The title will come to the PlayStation 4 this fall on October 8th for the price of $29.99. A Digital Deluxe Edition will also release on the same day for $39.99, packed with plenty of downloadable goodies. In addition to release date details, Pixelopus announced Concrete Genie is shipping with a Photo Mode.

Concrete Genie’s Digital Deluxe Edition is set to include the full game download, its two PlayStation VR modes, and all of the following:

  • Digital Art Book
  • Digital Soundtrack
  • Lighthouse Dynamic Theme
  • Pond Design Pack

A PlayStation Blog post from Pixelopus’ Creative Director, Dominic Robilliard, features the graphic below. It depicts what fans should expect from the game’s deluxe version:

Preorder bonuses for both versions of the title are also on the table. Those who preorder Concrete Genie will gain access to a special avatar set and a dynamic theme for Denska, the game’s vibrant setting. In particular, the dynamic theme depicts a rooftop in Denska, and features “special music” from Sam Marshall, Concrete Genie’s composer.

As for the game’s now confirmed Photo Mode, expect quite the treat. Based on trailers and gameplay demonstrations, Concrete Genie is already a sight to behold, given its art design and awe-inspiring vibrancy. However, Pixelopus is adding something pretty inventive to the mode–“a timelapse style ‘Replay'” function. How exactly such a feature works remains to be seen, though the PlayStation Blog post from Robilliard teases that players will have the option to put their “artistic compositions together.”

For a closer look at what this colorful adventure has to offer, check out Concrete Genie’s release date trailer below:

In Concrete Genie, players assume the role of a boy named Ash, a bullied young artist whose hometown of Denska has undergone much suffering after an environmental disaster. It seems there’s only one way in which the small town can be saved, through the magical power of art and Ash’ own unique artistic skills.
