During the 2019 Manchester Comic-Con, actor Nolan North had some positive things to say about the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers. North, who’s one of the most prolific voice actors in the industry and has a major part in Marvel’s Avengers as Tony Stark/Iron Man, praised the game’s visuals.
As part of a Q&A at the convention, North said:
It absolutely is one of the most stunning things…You can’t tell where in-game cinematics and gameplay [separate]…it’s so seamless…You always worry that [a game] looks so good, and then you get the game and you’re like, ‘oh gameplay doesn’t look as good.’ [Avengers] really, visually, it’s one of the most stunning things I’ve ever seen. And obviously with The Last of Us, Uncharted, they’re amazing, but [Avengers] blew me away.
Later during the panel, Troy Baker, who is also in the game as Bruce Banner/Hulk, joined North on stage to add the following:
It really honestly is [amazing]. I’m gonna share something with you: we saw the demo that they’re gonna release a week after Gamescom… I told our director, I was like ‘cool, that’s a great demo, and I asked one question’ and he goes ‘No man, that’s all gameplay.’…It looked like a scripted event [and I was confusing it] with gameplay.
The gameplay footage Baker referred to was already shown behind-closed-doors at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, but was leaked online shortly thereafter. You can still watch the footage here. This footage, as Baker stated, will be shown to the general public after Gamescom, so stay tuned for that towards the end of August.
Based on fan-reaction to the game’s reveal at E3 2019, it seems publisher Square Enix and developer Crystal Dynamics have a lot to prove. Their messaging was admittedly confusing to some and many thought the character models needed to be changed. Crystal has stated that there are no plans to change the character models, though. You can read our full E3 preview here.
We’ll have to see how Marvel’s Avengers turns out when it releases on May 15, 2020. Does this news make you more excited for Marvel’s Avengers? Let us know in the comments!
