Alan Wake Remastered

Its Official: Alan Wake Remastered is Real and it’s Coming to PS4 and PS5

Remedy Entertainment has officially announced Alan Wake Remastered, and that means the once Xbox exclusive is finally coming to PS4 and PS5 too. While the developer has not announced a concrete release date, Remedy Entertainment Creative Director Sam Lake stated that it will launch in fall 2021. The remaster is being published by Epic Games. Further information about Alan Wake Remastered will come at a later date.

“This is for you,” Lake noted in his message to fans, “Alan Wake came out over 11 years ago, and through that time, you have told us again and again how much you love the game, the story, the characters, and the lore … The remaster is coming because of your support for Alan Wake through the years.” Reports recently surfaced that a remastered Alan Wake would be announced at the upcoming PlayStation Showcase, but it looks as though the developer has let the proverbial cat out of the bag early. Whether or not it will also be shown at Thursday’s showcase is unknown.

Lake made the official announcement through The Sudden Stop, a community website dedicated to the Alan Wake series. Along with the announcement, Lake thanked fans for supporting the game for over 11 years since its initial release exclusively for the Xbox 360. Alan Wake would later release for PC, however, Alan Wake Remastered marks the first time the game will release for PlayStation consoles.

The announcement via The Sudden Stop fansite was a thank you to the dedicated fans of nearly 10 years. Lake said:

That is why we felt it was fitting to make this announcement here, at The Sudden Stop, which has been an integral part of the Remedy community since back in 2012, when it started out as an Alan Wake fansite. The Remedy community wouldn’t be what it is today without The Sudden Stop, and we wanted to show our gratitude by telling you about Alan Wake Remastered right here. So thank you, Rachel, and everyone else, for supporting Remedy and our games through all these years.

Furthermore, Lake reveals that the game’s development is already near completion. Alan Wake Remastered’s story will also be “the original experience,” but with improved graphics, character models, and cinematics that are “improved with some choice next-generation upgrades.”

Alan Wake Remastered is launching on the PS4 and PS5, as well as PC via Epic Games Store, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S in fall 2021. We’ll keep readers updated on any further developments.
