Black Ops Cold War Warzone Season 6 Roadmap

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 6 is the Final Showdown, Return of Mason, The Haunting Event

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 6 will be the final season before the launch of Vanguard shifts everything back to World War II, including a whole new Pacific map. As the Final Showdown for Black Ops Cold War’s story and a goodbye to Verdansk, Treyarch and Raven are making Season 6 one to remember by bringing back a major Black Ops character, and reintroducing The Haunting of Verdansk event as simply The Haunting this time around.

A gameplay trailer for Season 6 sets the stage for the final showdown on October 7:

Treyarch and Raven took to the Call of Duty blog to outline the roadmap for Season 6, including the new maps, weapons, Operators, events, and more that will be coming throughout the season. They even hint that the coming of Call of Duty Vanguard may play into some events later in the season, with more to come on that in October.

Warzone Season 6 Update

Warzone is getting all new points of interest as explosions underground ruin the Stadium and Downtown areas, opening a bunch of fissures in the ground, and a bunch of WWII-era bunkers are revealed. Raven hints that these bunkers hold more secrets going into Vanguard’s launch, which may serve to connect the mythology across the games. “Their mysterious nature hints at what will come following Vanguard’s launch…”

The original Gulag experience is returning for Verdansk’s final days, but it may not be exactly like you remember it. Raven isn’t revealing what’s different about it just yet. Additionally, there will be more exciting new modes, events, updates, and secrets in Warzone through the season that Raven isn’t quite ready to talk about.

They also note that Regiments are frozen starting in Season 6 to prepare for the “new and more rewarding” Clan system coming with Vanguard’s launch.

Zombies

Headlining Season 6 for Zombies is the new Zombies map Forsaken, the final chapter of the Black Ops Cold War Zombies saga. The map brings a new perk, new wonder weapon, and two additional support weapons as Requiem takes the fight to the heart of Omega. However, this isn’t the end of the Dark Aether saga altogether. Treyarch will return as the Zombies developer in Call of Duty Vanguard to tell the story of the early days of the Dark Aether program.

PhD Slider is the new Perk that allows players to slide into enemies to trigger an explosion. And upgrading it further with crystals grants additional explosion-based benefits. The new Wonder Weapon is the Dark Aether-forged Chrysalax, which is both a battle axe and a rapid-fire energy weapons. And finally, the ARC-XD remote control car and Hand Cannon are coming as the two new support weapons.

PlayStation Players will get exclusive access to new Onslaught content, using one of Black Ops Cold Wars new Season 6 maps, Deprogram, which is a surreal journey into Adler’s mind. Onslaught Elite also ups the ante, spawning an Elite every surge, rather than every three surges.

Multiplayer

Black Ops Cold War is getting three new maps for Season 6—two 6v6 maps, and one smaller gunfight map. Deprogram is a surreal journey into Adler’s mind full of Red Doors and broken stitched together fragments of Adler’s memory. Treyarch calls it “one of the most unique map experiences ever seen in Call of Duty.” Amerika is based on the secret U.S.S.R. military training facility first seen in the Black Ops Cold War campaign—a replica of Anywhere, USA. And Gluboko is the small underground KGB headquarters vault.

Both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone will see new Operators join the fray, new weapons added, the The Haunting event.

Operators

Alex Mason, the original protagonist from Black Ops Cold War, finally joins the fight as the first NATO operative to headline a Battle Pass. Mason unlocks at Tier 0 when you purchase the Battle Pass. Oddly enough, Treyarch didn’t mention his alternate outfits at Tier 100, which may hint that another character is being given that prestigious place. Expect a deeper look at the Season 6 Battle Pass sometime next week. Fuze is coming to the Warsaw Pact side as part of a premium bundle launching in-season. Fuze can be seen in the Season 6 intro cinematic.

They also note that you can play as Call of Duty Vanguard’s Arthur Kingsley in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone by preordering Call of Duty Vanguard.

Weapons

Three new weapons make their debut at Season 6’s launch, including the .410 Ironhide Shotgun, Grav Assault Rifle, and Battle Axe. The first two are unlocked on the free track of the Battle Pass, while the Battle Axe, despite its similarity in name, can be obtained via an in-game challenge or by purchasing a blueprint bundle for the weapon.

And later in season, players can earn the LAPA SMG via The Haunting event, and get their hands on the Hammer and Sickle sometime shortly after. Both will be available for in-game challenge rewards or by purchasing bundles.

The Haunting

They aren’t saying much about The Haunting just yet—renamed from last year’s The Haunting of Verdansk—but the promise more intel on the Halloween celebration on October 18, just one day before the event kicks off on October 19 and runs through November 2.

Final Prestige

As the final Season of the Black Ops Cold War year of Call of Duty, this will introduce the final four Prestige levels. Players who have achieved six green ribbons on their progression screen will have reached Prestige Master (level 200) every season, and are considered Prestige Masters for the entire Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War.

And as the last season ahead of Vanguard’s launch less than one month later on November 5th, there’s a lot more in store. It’s unclear when Black Ops Cold War’s Season 6 is planned to end. Most Call of Duty seasons run about two months (or 8 weeks). Whether this one will be shortened to just four weeks to account for Vanguard, or if it will overlap Vanguard and go until December 2 is unknown right now. Sledgehammer may have a launch leeway period for Vanguard to allow players to experience the campaign and earn initial levels in multiplayer before it kicks off its own Season 1.
