Tales of Arise Sword Art Online

Tales of Arise is Getting a Sword Art Online Collaboration This Month

The new Tales of Arise collaboration pack will feature new weapons, outfits, and weapons from the light novel and anime series Sword Art Online. The new collaboration pack will release worldwide on October 7, 2021, and cost 1,760 yen (about $15). Notably, the additional outfits include those worn by Kirito and Asuna from the Sword Art Online series.

Bandai Namco announced the new collaboration during the Tales of Arise showcase at Tokyo Game Show 2021. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, the Japanese voice actor who plays Law in Tales of Arise, revealed the upcoming Sword Art Online pack. A prominent actor in the Japanese video game and anime industry, Matsuoka has voiced other high-profile characters such as Inosuke from the Demon Slayer series. Interestingly, Matsuoka also plays Kirito from Sword Art Online which means he will technically be playing two different characters in the same game.

In total, there will be three new outfits available in the pack: Kitito’s Black Swordsman outfit for Alphen, Kirito’s Elite Disciple uniform for Law, and Asuna’s outfit for Shionne. Additionally, players will get to face off against Kirito and Asuna in combat. The producer also confirmed that Matsuoka’ Law will be able to fight against Matsuoka’s Kirito (which may make things a bit confusing for those listening out for vocal cues). Be wary, however, as it will be a “high difficulty” fight that is designed to challenge those who have already completed the game.

If players win against the duo, they will also unlock a new Mystic Arte for Alphen in which he will cut through the enemy alongside the two Sword Art Online characters. Furthermore, replicas of Kirito’s Blue Rose Sword and the Night Sky Sword will also become available and will be the strongest weapons in the game once added. The collaboration also extends to Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris, where Alphen and Shionne will reportedly make an appearance.

Tales of Arise faced some issues upon release, such as a bug that would prevent people from progressing through the game. However, the game has sold fairly well and features a deep, engaging story, as we’ve noted in our official PS5 review.

The Tales of Arise Sword Art Collaboration Pack will be available on October 7th.
