Sony Interactive Entertainment has added a new section to the PlayStation Store on PS5, which displays new releases. It was a notable omission, and one we’re happy to see rectified.
Pointing out the change was none other than PlayStation Indies boss, Shuhei Yoshida.
PS Store on PS5 now has “New Game” strand on top page, making it super easy to find newly released games 😀 #PS5Share pic.twitter.com/Y5ChPxfG6Z

Hideaki Nishino, SVP of Platform Experience, recently said that Sony will continue to make quality-of-life changes with or without major firmware updates so expect to see more improvements going forward. He also teased “interesting, exciting, and fantastic” ideas that the company’s toying with.
“We are receiving a bunch of feedback from the community through social networks or system telemetry, as well as the media, my family, my friends,” Nishino said in an interview with the PlayStation Blog. “Our updates aren’t just about the [major] firmware updates. If you carefully look at the PS5 system, over the network we are changing the UX behavior quite often. Sometimes we do some customization for a certain group of people to see how these features are used. So, it’s dynamic now.”
Here’s hoping that the ability to gift games via the PlayStation Store is included in Sony’s list of things to do. The good news is that Nishino is “diligently working on these lists and there will be more coming out in the future.”
