Elden Ring Network Test

Elden Ring Delayed Into February 2022, Closed Network Test Begins on November 12

FromSoftware’s much-anticipated next game Elden Ring has been delayed to the packed month of February 2022, now due to be released on February 25, 2022. The good news is those wanting to get their hands on Elden Ring before then can apply to take part in a closed network test that’s due to start next month for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.

Elden Ring was initially scheduled for release on January 21, 2022, but has now been delayed by a month. FromSoftware says this is because “the depth of the game and the degree of freedom in strategy exceeded the initial expectations, hence it has been decided to extend the development time for final adjustments.” Elden Ring will now release in February 2022 and is in the final stages of development.

Before then, the Elden Ring closed network test will take place on consoles from November 12-15. This will give players a chance to see “what the full game will have to offer” while the developer gets to test the performance of the online servers. The number of players able to take part in the closed network test is limited to 50,000 among the four console platforms. PS5 and PS4 players will be able to play together, as will Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One players, but there is no cross-play—PlayStation players will not be able to play with Xbox players. The closed network test will be available during the following times:

  • November 12: 12:00 to 15:00 CET
  • November 13: 4:00 to 7:00 CET
  • November 13: 20:00 to 23:00 CET
  • November 14: 12:00 to 15:00 CET
  • November 15: 4:00 to 7:00 CET

For a chance to take part, players need to sign up on Elden Ring‘s official website and will need to create a Bandai Namco account. Those who are successful will be emailed a beta key for the technical test on November 9.

Over the weekend, gameplay footage from Elden Ring purportedly leaked online. The brief 27-second clip showed the player character in a mountainous environment that included giant ghostly trees, mysterious ruins, and eagles that weren’t too happy to be disturbed. It’s supposed to be the first glimpse of one of the fantastical landscapes in the world called Lands Between. Players can explore the Lands Between for themselves when Elden Ring is released on February 25, 2022.
