Child of Light creator Patrick Plourde is teasing a new crossover title. While Aurora and Igniculus will be getting another adventure, it won’t be through Child of Light 2 as Plourde also confirmed that while the game was written, it failed to be greenlit.
The teasing began when Plourde tweeted that Child of Light protagonist Aurora and her firefly companion Igniculus would be getting a new game and it had received the final approval from Ubisoft. More details on the game are expected to be revealed next year.
Fans of #ChildofLight, just to let you know that @Take_Toch just sent the final approval for Aurora and Igniculus’ next great adventure. Expect more news early next year. 🙂

Fans started to become excited about a potential sequel. Child of Light 2 was initially teased back in 2018 when Plourde shared a photo of the original Child of Light working on the Nintendo Switch. In the background could be seen a script for Child of Light 2. However, Plourde had some bad news. While the document in the photo was indeed the script for a sequel, the game was never greenlit by Ubisoft as the publisher began to move away from making smaller games.
This new adventure will be a “crossover game” that continues Aurora’s story that follows on after the events of Child of Light after she returns to Lemuria through the mirror. The game will not be developed by the same team at Ubisoft Montreal, though. It will instead be developed by “devs that also love the IP.”
And the piece of paper with the CoL2 story was real in the sense that we wrote the sequel, it’s not just a cover page. But the game was not greenlit.

The confirmation of a crossover game means it’s more than just the live-action Child of Light television show that was also mentioned in 2018 but never seemed to come to fruition either. Some believe the crossover will be an appearance in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, but Plourde makes this sound like a completely new game rather than a cameo appearance in an existing title. Whatever the game turns out to be, we’ll be learning more about it in 2022.
