Guerrilla Games previously said that Horizon Forbidden West‘s PS5 and PS4 versions will be “equally immersive.” Assuaging concerns of both consoles’ users, the studio revealed that both versions of the game were developed and tested simultaneously to ensure that there is no compromise on quality. That said, it’s understandable that Horizon Forbidden West will be missing some features on the PS4 due to hardware limitations and lack of features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
“I don’t think the cross-generation development was limiting in any way,” Guerrilla Games’ Mathijs de Jonge told Hardware Zone back in June this year. “I think that the big delta between these two consoles, apart from the 3D audio, quick loading and DualSense of course, is on the graphical side of things.”
Horizon Forbidden West will release on February 18, 2022.
