Turns out, CD Projekt RED’s investors aren’t all that difficult to placate. A year after the developer was sued for making false and misleading statements regarding Cyberpunk 2077‘s console versions, which resulted in losses for investors, a settlement has been reached for $1.85 million – a paltry sum considering the ruckus.
“In the framework of negotiations concerning a potential settlement agreement in a case pending before the US District Court for the Central District of California, a proposal regarding key terms, which – if agreed upon – would provide the basis for a prospective written settlement agreement was officially formulated on 7 December 2021,” reads a statement from CD Projekt RED. “According to these terms, members of the class (including the plaintiffs) would relinquish all claims against the Company and members of its Management Board.”
The deal is expected to conclude within a couple of months and is subject to the court’s approval.
Cyberpunk 2077‘s launch was the most embarrassing episode in CD Projekt RED’s history. The company’s management continued to make misleading statements and only doubled down on its claims when confronted. Recently, it emerged that the studio lied about Keanu Reeves having played Cyberpunk 2077 when the actor outright denied playing it during an interview.
But all’s well that end’s well…for investors and CD Projekt RED, that is.
