Resident Evil Village Is Apparently 2021’s Most Completed Game

Video game stats and metrics website HowLongtoBeat has published its annual year-in-review data for 2021, revealing that Capcom’s Resident Evil Village was one of the most completed games this year. Worth noting that HowLongtoBeat relies on data submitted by users so it’s not entirely accurate, but it does have ample traffic and gives us a fairly good idea of what people have (and haven’t) been playing.

Other games in the “most completed” list include the highly-anticipated Metroid Dread, Insomniac Games’ PlayStation 5-exclusive Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Hazelight’s hit co-op game It Takes Two. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury rounded up the top five.

As far as the least completed/most retired games are concerned, HowLongtoBeat published two lists. One of the lists took into account the total number of people who dropped a game without finishing it, and the other one took into account the percentage of players who retired a game. The latter was released because the first list, by the website’s own admission, became a “slight popularity contest.”

Either way, going by the first list, the notoriously difficult Returnal was one of the most retired games this year. However, the Housemarque title was nowhere to be seen in the second list. We’re sharing both lists below so make of them what you will.
