Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Studio Supermassive Hiring for Unannounced Multiplayer Project

Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures developer, Supermassive Games, is actively hiring for a new, unannounced project and one of the roles it’s looking to fill is that of a multiplayer game designer.

Going through the job description, Supermassive is in pursuit of someone who can create multiplayer combat, progression, and tutorial systems. Essential skills include the ability to work on “balancing, lag compensation, and online economies.” There is also mention of social features like “guilds” and “events.” Furthermore, the incumbent must be able to create “a rewarding, visually exciting, and exhilarating experience for the player.” Hmm….

While this does sound like a departure from Supermassive Games’ recent portfolio, the studio isn’t entirely new to multiplayer games. During its time collaborating exclusively with Sony, Supermassive worked on Killzone HD and LittleBigPlanet DLC among other projects.

“We are looking for a highly talented, motivated and experienced person to work on new, as yet unannounced project,” reads the aforementioned job description. “You will collaborate with design, engineering, art and animation teams to create varied and compelling multiplayer systems, from combat to progression systems.”

We haven’t a clue what Supermassive is up to at the moment, but we’ll keep our eyes and ears peeled and keep you posted. In the meantime, feel free to throw out wild guesses in the comments below.
