In news that is not even remotely surprising at this point, it turns out Dealabs user billbil-kun has once again managed to predict the games due to be included in PlayStation Plus next month. The three January 2022 PlayStation Plus free games are Deep Rock Galactic and DiRT 5 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, and Persona 5 Strikers for PlayStation 4. These new games go live on Tuesday, January 4.
Deep Rock Galactic is a co-op first-person shooter designed for up to four players. Space dwarves search through a series of procedurally-generated caves for valuable resources. The problem is those caves are filled with hordes of aliens, but at least you have the option to bring down the walls and the ceiling in the fully destructible environments if things get desperate. This game will be launching on PS4 and PS5 on January 4 and will be the day-one release in this month’s lineup, making good on Sony’s promise.
DiRT 5 is Codemasters’ latest offering in the long-running rallying franchise. The game offers a career mode that takes in 70 routes across 10 different locations around the world. Those who want more can create their own entertainment in the Playgrounds creator mode. There’s also multiplayer modes for both online and local play that supports up to four players in splitscreen.
Finally, Persona 5 Strikers is a spin-off from the usual Persona formula, this time combining RPG Persona 5 with the hack and slash action of the Dynasty Warriors franchise. The Phantom Thieves head on a holiday road trip across Japan but everything is thrown into chaos when a distorted reality appears. With corruption now taking over entire cities, the team of friends must redeem the hearts of those who have been imprisoned and reveal the truth.
For now, Godfall Challenger Edition, Mortal Shell and LEGO DC Super-Villains are the current PlayStation Plus titles available to download until January 3. The three bonus PSVR titles from November—The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, The Persistence and Until You Fall— will also only be available until January 3. Once claimed, all of the games will remain in your library as long as you remain a PlayStation Plus subscriber.
