Naughty Dog Can ‘Never Say Never’ to Making a New Uncharted Game, Says Dev

Naughty Dog’s Shaun Escayg has said that the studio can “never say never” to a new Uncharted game because it simply loves the franchise and feels that there’s a lot more to see in Nathan Drake’s world.

Escayg was quizzed about Uncharted‘s future by GamesRadar during an interview about The Legacy of Thieves Collection, and while he understandably didn’t answer the question directly, Escayg did offer fans some hope.

Will Naughty Dog ever make a new Uncharted game?

“I think we can say for certain that we can never say never,” Escayg said. “Yeah. Uncharted is a franchise we love – that the studio loves. I love, and Kurt [Margenau] loves. It’s a world we want to see more of. So I can certainly say that.”

As for why Naughty Dog chose to remaster old games for the PlayStation 5 as opposed to making a new game, Escayg explained that it was worth bringing Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy to the new hardware because it’s “literally the best way” to experience their stories and characters.

Elsewhere in the interview, it was revealed that despite being part of the franchise’s original development team, neither Escayg nor Margenau are involved in the upcoming Uncharted movie.

“I’m excited to see Tom Holland’s take on the character,” Margenau said. “I don’t know anything other than the trailers we’ve seen. I’m just excited.”

Opinion: I wouldn’t mind a new Uncharted game but I wouldn’t mind not having one either

Zarmena writes… I love Uncharted and would buy a new game on launch day without reading a single review, but I feel like Uncharted 4 was a perfect end to the series. That said, I do want to see more of Nadine and Chloe so if Naughty Dog makes a spin-off that isn’t shadowed by Drake and Sully, that would be much welcome.

In other news, Gran Turismo 7 isn’t getting delayed after all, and Destruction AllStars might be going free-to-play.
