When Nathan Drake’s story arc came to a natural conclusion at the end of Uncharted 4, developer Naughty Dog was left wondering what they could do with the next game. They considered giving Sully a game of his own but ultimately chose to go with Chloe as the main focus for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy instead.
Choosing a Character for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
Once Uncharted 4 was complete, the heads at Naughty Dog wanted to create a follow up. Nathan Drake wasn’t going to be suitable for a new game, so the team needed to find a new central protagonist. As Game Director Shaun Escayg explained to GQ Magazine, they tried to make Nathan’s mentor and sidekick Sullivan the main character, but as they “threw characters together” and “pulled them apart” to create a duo, they realised he wouldn’t be the best fit. Instead, they went with Chloe. Escayg said:
I latched on to Chloe, because she was always this intriguing character. So self-centered, so selfish. You just wanted to know what makes a person that way. And then when we combine that with Nadine – a thief and a mercenary – the disaster just unfolds in your mind and you go “Oh my gosh, this is such a great conflict.”

In other news, Elden Ring‘s Director Hidetaka Miyazaki believes the game will be completed by more players than other Souls games because of the title’s new options that make it more accessible to newcomers. Elsewhere, brawler royale Rumbleverse has been delayed away from its February release date so the team can do more to “perfect the experience”.
