Ghostwire: Tokyo PS5 Exclusivity To Last Until 2023

With the premiere of the Ghostwire: Tokyo showcase, developer Tango Works has revealed that the game will be a timed PS5 console exclusive for at least a year. Specifically, the game will stay on the next-gen console until March 25, 2023. The game will also release for PC alongside the PS5.

Will Ghostwire: Tokyo release on Xbox consoles after PS5 and PC?

It’s important to note that the game’s publisher is Bethesda Softworks. As Microsoft owns Bethesda, there’s a good chance that the game will release for Xbox consoles once the exclusivity deal ends. However, this isn’t yet confirmed.

Ghostwire: Tokyo was originally announced as a PS5 console exclusive in 2019. Sony confirmed the official release date a few days ago, and the latest showcase features over 10 minutes of gameplay footage. In addition to the basic premise, the showcase detailed the player’s special abilities and weapons. As the protagonist Akito, players will have to fight against strange specters in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo using a special bow and a magical ability called Ethereal Weaving.

Opinion: It would be foolish not to release it on other consoles

Andrew writes… All evidence points to the likely fact that Ghostwire: Tokyo will release on other consoles. While it’s tempting to think of the possibility that the game will remain a PS5 exclusive, the fact is that the game is already going to be available on PC. Porting it to Xbox consoles will be a piece of cake for Microsoft, and it would not make sense if they decided not to.

In other news, The final Season Pass DLC for Far Cry 6, Joseph: Collapse is releasing next week. Counterplay Games, the developers behind Godfall, are also working on an action fantasy shooter for next-gen consoles.
