Now that SIFU has finally been released to the masses, developer SloClap are not resting on their laurels. The team is already working on free post launch DLC for SIFU and although they didn’t go into detail as to what players can expect, they did reveal in an interview that the game will not be getting any multiplayer features in the future.
What is the SIFU DLC?
Not much is known about the upcoming DLC. There is the possibility that more modes, cosmetics, features or even story content will be added down the line. SloClap’s Community Manager Felix Garczynski told PlayStation Blog the team was “already at work on post-launch content” and that they “have exciting plans for free content updates”. More news is promised on these soon. However, Garczynski also told GamingBolt that the game will remain a single-player experience unlike the studio’s first title, Absolver. This is because they “wanted the team to focus on creating an immersive and distinctive single player experience” and this won’t be diluted by multiplayer content.
In a rare move for the current climate, SIFU released earlier than initially planned. While a reason for this wasn’t given, it’s thought it was so the game didn’t have to compete with bigger February releases like Horizon Forbidden West or Elden Ring. Unfortunately the game’s early access period didn’t quite work out that well as players found themselves unable to download the game thanks to issues with the PlayStation Store, but now the game has been released for everybody, there have been no further issues.
In other news, Evil Dead: The Game will also be getting post launch DLC as indicated by a Season Pass included with the Deluxe and Collector’s editions of the game. The game’s DLC will be released over several seasons but no details have been given yet. Elsewhere, Take-Two Interactive has promised gamers their upcoming release lineup will include sequels to many beloved franchises sparking rumors of new installments in the Bully, Midnight Club, LA Noire and Max Payne franchises.
