Until Dawn Dev Supermassive Trademarks ‘The Quarry’

Until Dawn developer Supermassive Games appears to be working on a new video game project entitled ‘The Quarry.’ First discovered by Twitter user The_Marmolade and later corroborated by Video Games Chronicles’ sources, The Quarry isn’t related to The Dark Pictures anthology. The studio only recently filed trademarks for five upcoming games in the ongoing series.

What we know about The Quarry

According to VGC’s sources, The Quarry is a project that’ll be published by Take-Two Interactive’s 2K label and a release is planned for later this year. In December 2021, Supermassive began hiring for an unannounced multiplayer project. The developer was specifically looking for a game designer who had experience of working on multiplayer combat, progression, and tutorial systems. “Balancing, lag compensation, and online economies” were listed as essential skills and social features like “guilds” and “events” were also mentioned.

“We are looking for a highly talented, motivated and experienced person to work on new, as yet unannounced project,” read the job description. “You will collaborate with design, engineering, art and animation teams to create varied and compelling multiplayer systems, from combat to progression systems.”

Opinion: I would like to see something new from Supermassive

Zarmena writes… According to recent reports, Supermassive is working on a remaster of sorts for Until Dawn but I still have a hard time believing that the studio would spend resources on a project as pointless as that. I would like to see something different, non-horror from Supermassive but I’m keeping my expectations in check. That said, Supermassive has previously worked on Killzone HD and LittleBigPlanet as a support studio so it’s not inexperienced with multiplayer projects.

In other news, Soul Hackers 2 is coming to PS5 and PS4, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has a new update.
