PS3 Support Ending Japan

PS3 Support Ending in Japan at the End of April

Sony Japan will be ending after-sales support for the final PS3 model to be sold in Japan, as well as all PlayStation 3 peripherals. Support will be discontinued at the end of April. Anybody wishing to have their PS3 console serviced in the region are encouraged to apply for after-sales service or to send in their console to the PlayStation Clinic as soon as possible.

When will PS3 after-sales support end in Japan?

After-sales service will be discontinued for the PlayStation 3 CECH-4300 series and all PS3 peripherals on April 30, 2022. The reason for discontinuing support is because Sony is finally running out of parts to be able to service the console and its accessories. Players who want to have their console or peripherals serviced are encouraged to apply “as soon as possible”.

A post on PlayStation Japan’s support site, as spotted by Video Games Chronicle, went into a bit more detail on how players could continue to request support until the service is closed at the end of April:

Customers who wish to have after-sales service for the relevant model should apply for after-sales service through the online repair reception service or PlayStation Customer Support by Saturday, April 30, 2022, and by Saturday, May 7, 2022.

Please send the product to arrive at the PlayStation Clinic. If you wish to send it directly to the PlayStation Clinic without prior application, please send it so that it arrives by Saturday, April 30, 2022.

We will not be able to accept applications or arrivals after the day following the above deadline, so if you are considering applying for after-sales service, please request as soon as possible.

Please note that repairs may not be possible before the end date due to the exhaustion of parts.

We sincerely apologize to customers who are using this product and thank you for your understanding.

PlayStation 3 after-sales support had already ended for all other console models prior to this announcement. Meanwhile, support will continue for PS4 and PS5 consoles in all regions.

In other news, Elden Ring’s PS5 and PS4 servers will be down for maintenance later today. The update will be to improve some of the game’s multiplayer functions. Elsewhere, PlayStation Now will be getting four more games tomorrow, including Shadow Warrior 3 and Crysis Remastered.
