Overwatch 2 will be getting a PvP beta at the end of April, which will introduce a new hero, four of the new maps, and a new game mode. Sign-ups are open right now, although the catch is the initial PvP beta will only be available on PC. The good news is it’s the start of Blizzard’s promise to improve their communication and content going forward.
When will be included in the Overwatch 2 PvP beta?
The PvP beta will focus exclusively on the new 5v5 format and will feature a brand new game mode called Push. This seems two teams battling to take control of a robot that must then be pushed into enemy territory. The winning team is the one that pushes the robot furthest onto the enemy’s side. The mode will take place on two new maps: New Queen Street and Colosseo. There will also be Escort mode available that will take place on the new Circuit Royal and Midtown maps.
A brand new hero will make her multiplayer debut: Sojourn. She’ll be joined by the reworked versions of Orisa, Doomfist, Bastion and Sombra. Finally, the PvP beta will test the game’s brand new ping system. If you’re interested in signing up, you can do so through the Overwatch website.
Additional PvP beta tests will take place throughout the year. These will include new maps, features, and heroes although Blizzard didn’t specify whether they would become available on other platforms. They did promise to communicate more clearly, though, with assurances they will communicate with players during and after each beta. They’ll tell us what they’re learning, potential changes, and the features that will be included in the future betas. As they pointed out, “it’s been 0 days since the last Overwatch 2 update” and hopefully the next one won’t take as long as they have before.
In other news, the long-awaited Dying Light PS5 update has arrived, introducing three new video modes that include 60FPS or 4K resolution. Elsewhere, the Skull and Bones Insider Program will invite select players to test the game in its early stages.
