Quantic Dream Dismisses Star Wars Eclipse Delay Rumor

Following numerous claims of development troubles, Quantic Dream has officially quashed Star Wars Eclipse delay rumors, arguing that it never announced or promised a release window to begin with. In a statement to PlayStation LifeStyle, Quantic Dream’s PR firm also denied reports that the studio is struggling to hire staff, pointing us towards a press release announcing that its workforce increased by 50 percent in 2021.

Star Wars Eclipse delay rumor came from a prominent leaker

Known insider and leaker Tom Henderson claimed shortly after Star Wars Eclipse’s reveal that Quantic Dream was struggling to hire developers after high-profile lawsuits involving workplace misconduct. He was joined by other known insiders who claimed that the game is too ambitious and the studio’s internal development capabilities aren’t up to the mark. Earlier this month, Henderson claimed that Star Wars Eclipse won’t release until at least 2027.

“Star Wars Eclipse has not been delayed because Quantic Dream never announced or promised a launch window for the title,” Quantic Dream told us in a statement via its PR firm yesterday. “Additionally, the studio announced today its hiring of over 50 percent of its workforce across its Paris and Montreal offices in the last year. Job postings can be deceiving. Recruiting remains active as it works on Star Wars Eclipse, third-party publishing, and unannounced projects.”

Opinion: Quantic Dream’s statement doesn’t mean Star Wars Eclipse will release soon

Zarmena writes… Quantic Dream’s statement is carefully worded in that it doesn’t deny that Star Wars Eclipse has a long way to go before launch, which is what Henderson and other insiders claimed. However, it’s not unusual for studios to keep their plans tightly under wraps so we have no way of telling how far into development the game is. What I do find interesting is that Quantic Dream has increased its workforce by a whopping 50 percent amidst reports that it’s struggling to recruit staff. This is only a reminder that all rumors – even those from reliable insiders – should be taken with a customary grain of salt.

In other news, Elden Ring patch 1.03 is out, and Resident Evil 2-7 PS4 save data will carry over to PS5.
