Netflix’s The Witcher Season 3 Sends Ciri Into Hiding

Netflix‘s The Witcher Season 3 is officially in production, the streaming giant has announced. The upcoming season will have a special focus on Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri as the trio evade mages and beasts of the Continent. Season 3 will be directed by Stephen Surjik (Reacher, The Umbrella Academy), Gandja Monteiro (Brand New Cherry Flavor, The Chi), Loni Peristere (American Horror Story, A Series of Unfortunate Events) and Bola Ogun (Raising Dion, Lucifer).

Netflix’s The Witcher Season 3 plot details

The official synopsis reads:

As monarchs, mages and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever.

There’s no word on when The Witcher Season 3 will release but we assume it won’t take as long as Season 2, which was bogged down by the global pandemic.

Opinion: Netflix’s The Witcher Season 3 needs to do Yen justice

Zarmena writes… The Witcher’s first season had a slow start but redeemed itself towards the end. Season 2 had much better pacing and more twists and turns, but I personally felt that the character development of Yennefer and Triss took a bit of a nosedive. I understand why Yennefer was as beaten down as she was but her ordeal seems to have been dragged out a bit too much. I hope we’ll see a comeback in Season 3, with Ciri and Yen dominating the show.

In other news, Abandoned PS5 dev is apparently “scared” to show off development footage, and Monkey Island has returned.
