First Cyberpunk 2077 Expansion Gets a Release Window

The first expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 is in the works. Despite its rocky launch. CD Projekt Red reiterated that more content is on its way for the game in a financial call today. Some fans hypothesized that the studio might abandon plans for long-term support for the game after the massive amount of (justified) criticism it received. However, this news proves that’s not the case.

When will Cyberpunk 2077’s first expansion release?

During the financial call, CD Projekt Red revealed that it’s aiming for a 2033 release for Cyberpunk 2077’s first expansion. Unfortunately, no details on what the expansion would entail were mentioned. However, one of the game’s endings gives a big clue about where it might be located: The Crystal Palace space station.

Since CD Projekt Red is using the word “expansion,” we hope that we’ll get content on par with The Witcher 3’s Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Given that the base game has a ton of cut content, there should be plenty of material to pull from.

The studio touched on a few other key points during the call as well. The most curious of these is that development work on the next-gen versions of The Witcher 3 is still ongoing despite being recently delayed indefinitely. Saber Interactive Russia was previously doing the work. It wasn’t stated aloud, but the reason behind this change is likely because of the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War, which drastically escalated with the recent Russian invasion of Ukraine. CD Projekt Red and the Polish government have strongly condemned Russia’s actions. As a result, the studio likely wanted to sever any ties it had to the nation.

In other news, Hello Games is working on a new game that isn’t No Man’s Sky 2. Also, the PlayStation Studios banner got updated to include Death Stranding, fueling acquisition rumors.
