Assassin's Creed Valhalla The Forgotten Saga

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Getting “Rogue-Lite Inspired” The Forgotten Saga Free This Summer

Ubisoft has announced Assassin’s Creed Valhalla The Forgotten Saga, a free “rogue-lite inspired” game mode that will be arriving this summer. Unveiled during today’s Assassin’s Creed 15th Anniversary Celebration livestream, it has been described as “the latest and most ambitious game mode.”

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla The Forgotten Saga is an endless challenge mode

Jose Araiza, producer for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Extended Experience, revealed this new mode as the pièce de résistance for the free Year Two content of the game. He introduced The Forgotten Saga as a “unique take on Assassin Creed gameplay” before showing off a short trailer of what this endless challenge will bring.

From the looks of it, The Forgotten Saga will have Eivor return to Niflheim, the Realm of the Dead, and defeat numerous monsters commanded by the daughter of Loki. You’ll face hordes of hellish creatures and many bosses, like one gargantuan undead dragon with a powerful breath weapon.

The high difficulty of this upcoming mode will see you fight, fail, and then hopefully learn from your mistakes. During a quick part of the video that shows off the legendary hammer Mjolnir being slotted into the player’s loadout, Eivor screams, “Each time you cast me out, will only make me stronger!” The screen right before it reveals that you’ll be able to select a reward among multiple options during a run; in this case, it was between the Vaegn-Geirr spear, the Mjolnir hammer, the Vindbogi bow, or 30 coins. This suggests that every descent into Niflheim will change depending on how you choose to build Eivor.

Ubisoft also plans to add new Tombs around fall this year in order to “close the mystery behind Tombs of the Fallen.” As part of the anniversary celebration, several sets of tattoos based on Assassin’s Creed Origins along with a naval pack will be available some time this week for Valhalla.

In other news, the PS5 will notify players when games in their wishlist are added to PS Plus Extra and Premium, and The Last of Us Part 1 timed trial will likely be heading to PS Plus.
