Report: GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption Remasters Off the Table After Poor GTA Trilogy Reception

We’ve long heard rumors that Rockstar Games planned a Grand Theft Auto 4 and Red Dead Redemption remaster but it looks like those plans are off the table, thanks in no small part to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition‘s poor reception. Insider Tez2, who’s got a good track record when it comes to Rockstar-related leaks, claims to have heard that the remasters were planned a few years ago but he recons that Rockstar pulled the plug seeing the way things went with the GTA Trilogy.

GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption Remasters were never officially announced

Although Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive has said on numerous occasions that it won’t hesitate to bring back beloved games if it makes sense to do so, the company never officially announced a GTA 4 or Red Dead Redemption remaster. The announcement of GTA Trilogy was met with huge enthusiasm as it bundles three of the Grand Theft Auto series’ most-loved games but the quality of the release was so poor that it had to be pulled from PC temporarily. The console versions were no better, and were marred by technical and graphical issues, leading to Rockstar Games issuing a rare statement promising to roll out fixes.

That said, last time we checked, the GTA Trilogy was speculated to have sold north of 10 million copies. Perhaps, 10 million isn’t the kind of figure Rockstar Games was expecting.

In other news, here are all the PS4 and PS5 games releasing in July 2022, and a YouTuber has showcased an early PS3 dev kit and PS Vita prototype.
