Resistance 2 has been teased by developer Insomniac Games as a potential addition to PS Plus Premium later this month. More games are due to be added to both PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium at some point in the middle of July, but this hasn’t stopped people from hoping the tease is referencing a remaster of the game instead.

The tweet from Insomniac Games gave little away about Resistance 2, but their timing is what is most important. There would be very little reason, other than the game imminently joining PS Plus Premium, for the developer to Tweet about their game when they’re concentrating on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and the impending PC release of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition. After all, Resistance 3 is already part of PS Plus Premium, and Resistance: Retribution was recently rated for PS5 and PS4 in Korea, suggesting this will be coming soon too. The game wasn’t in the list of titles leaked earlier, though.
Players have started getting their hopes up for a Resistance 2 remaster following the Tweet, or a remaster of the entire mainline trilogy. While the above image has been used plenty of times before, players are convinced it looks better than the original from 14 years ago. This could potentially be the result of playing the game on PS4 or PS5 through PS Plus, but it doesn’t hurt to hope, right? There’s even calls for a brand new game in the franchise. Insomniac is already working on two large projects — Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine — and whether they could take on a third remains to be seen.
In other news, the Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Remaster will run at 60 FPS on PS5. Elsewhere, several prominent politicians and media outlets have misidentified Shinzo Abe’s assassin as Hideo Kojima.
