Moving between the two different chat modes on PS5 can be tricky if you’re new to the interface. Sometimes you’ll be wanting to stick with friends to talk tactics away from the other players, while at other times you might want to coordinate with randoms. Once you know how, you’ll be moving between them with ease. Here’s how to switch between Party and Game Chat on PS5.
How to get back to Party Chat on PS5
To get back to Party Chat on the PS5, users should:
- Press the PlayStation button.
- Select the Game Base icon.
- Choose the party that you want to join.
- Click “View Voice Chat.”
- Ensure the drop-down menu says the desired party.
- Select “Switch.”
- You will now be able to hear and speak to the members of that party.
How to switch to Game Chat on PS5
To switch to Game Chat on PS5, players should:
- Push the PlayStation button.
- Choose the Game Base icon.
- Select the party chat that you’re currently part of.
- Click “View Voice Chat.”
- Make sure the drop-down menu says “Game Chat.”
- Select “Switch.”
- You will now be able to hear and talk to players in the game.
If this doesn’t work and “Game Chat” and/or “Switch” doesn’t appear, the workaround is to just leave the party. Once you do that, the PS5 will automatically put you into Game Chat.
Admittedly, it’s quite a process to change between the two different chat types. It’s no wonder that many players appear to get confused by the sheer number of steps involved. Hopefully that can be fine-tuned and made easier with a future update.
