We didn’t expect to see Ben Stiller dressed up as Kratos in an official God of War Ragnarok trailer, but here we are. Sony Interactive Entertainment has published an usual star-studded video that’s over two minutes long, starring LeBron James and John Travolta alongside Stiller. The celebs are joined by their kids in a discussion about parent-child(ren) relationship. I won’t narrate the whole thing here because it’s worth watching yourself. Check out the video below.
God of War Ragnarok trailer is all about Kratos’ relationship with Atreus
“What could real parents learn from the relationship between Kratos and Atreus?” reads an official description. “Whether you’re a famous celebrity or a troubled god, parenting is always a work in progress.” Okay, then!
Considering Sony’s been awfully quiet about God of War Ragnarok up until recently, the video seems quite a departure from the usual approach. Entertainment Weekly spoke to Sony’s Eric Lempel about the video, and was told that it was the result of wanting to take “an innovative approach that combined both traditional and non-traditional routes” of marketing. “I challenged our team to come up with new strategies to take this title to the market,” Lempel added before labeling this trailer “a Super Bowl-level spot.”
