Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 Update Rolling Out for Modern Warfare 2 Players

Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 update has begun rolling out for Modern Warfare 2 players on consoles. There are conflicting reports of how big the download is but on the PS5 specifically, it should be around 20 GB. The good news is, you have until 10 am PT to download the update and get ready to dive in with a gazillion other players. That’s assuming you’ve pre-loaded Warzone 2.0, which has been live for a few days.

What’s included in Warzone 2.0 update

Official patch notes for the update aren’t available yet but PS5 players have to redownload the multiplayer pack, for some reason. Additionally, Warzone 2.0’s launch coincides with Season 1 of Modern Warfare 2 so expect relevant support and content to be included in the download.

Here’s when Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 goes live today:

  • 10 am PT
  • 1 pm ET
  • 6 pm GMT
  • 7 pm CET

As a reminder, Warzone progress and inventories won’t carry over to Warzone 2.0.

Some PlayStation players have reported that they’re unable to locate Warzone 2.0 on the PlayStation Store. Those who are still facing that problem should head over to Call of Duty’s official website, select their platform of choice, and begin downloading.

An overview of Warzone 2.0 is as follows:

  • New Map: Al Mazrah: Use 18 major points of interest to plot out your victory in Battle Royale or explore them en route to extraction in the brand-new DMZ experience.
  • DMZ: DMZ is an open-world, narrative-focused extraction mode where Operators have free rein to complete faction-based missions, take on additional side objectives, engage with enemy Operators or AI combatants, and search for valuable items, all while fighting to survive toward exfiltration.
  • Custom Loadouts are Back: Players will have quicker access to their Loadout’s primary benefit: The Primary Weapon.
  • New Backpack System: Fully integrated for DMZ and streamlined for Battle Royale modes.
  • New Gulag: The Gulag will be a 2v2 environment where randomly paired Duos must coordinate to take down their opposition. It will also include a Jailer, who will appear in the middle of the match to help speed up combat.
  • Third-Person Playlists Coming In-Season to Warzone 2.0: For the first time in Warzone history, we welcome fans of third-person Battle Royale action during Season 01.
