The Witcher Remake Release Date

The Witcher Remake Release Date Will Come After The Witcher 4

CD Projekt Red has revealed that The Witcher Remake release date has been placed some time after The Witcher 4 comes out. President and Joint CEO Adam Kiciński confirmed as much during the developer’s Q3 2022 earnings call. Given that The Witcher 4, which is codenamed Polaris, looks like it won’t arrive until 2024 (and that’s being optimistic), we might not see The Witcher Remake for several years.

Kiciński has clarified in the recent earnings call that the technology developed for The Witcher 4 will be used in The Witcher Remake:

Coming back to The Witcher Remake and when it will come. Yes, it will come after Polaris, which is a consequence of how we think about this project. I think The Witcher Remake will be based in big part on technologies from Polaris, so it will be developed partially in parallel to Polaris. But once Polaris is launched, everything for Polaris will be then in the final shape, and it will be partially reused in the remake.

Earlier this week, it was revealed in an official slideshow that The Witcher Remake would be indeed be an “open world” game, unlike the original game released in 2007. First announced in October, the remake will be developed by Polish studio Fool’s Theory and will be “rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5.”

We’re still not sure what the official title for The Witcher 4 will be, as it is still being called Polaris, but it was revealed since 2018 that “The Witcher 4” won’t be the final name.
