Silent Hill 2 Remake Dev Reveals New Horror Game

Silent Hill 2 Remake developer Bloober Team will be creating a new survival-horror game with Private Division, a Take-Two Interactive publishing label. While Bloober Team is known for the Layers of Fear franchise, Private Division games include Hades, The Outer Worlds, and OlliOlli World.

Not much is known about this new game as it is in early development, but its current release window is 2025 at the earliest. This suggests that this is a riskier, more substantial project than just a remaster or remake.

Bloober Team hopes to “become a leader in the horror industry”

Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team, has lofty hopes for this new horror game, according to a press release:

Our next project is an exciting new survival-horror game, which will help us become a leader in the horror industry at large. I am grateful for this cooperation with Private Division. Their expertise is extensive, and their people are also very approachable.

It’s unclear if this new horror game is one of the two Bloober Team projects revealed in July 2021 with codenames “Dum Spiro” and “Black.” It seems likely, though, since the idea of a smaller developer juggling three or more games at once seems untenable.

This announcement also marks the fifth anniversary for Private Division. To mark the occasion, the publisher revealed the Private Division Development Fund, which is meant to empower smaller studios to self-publish their games.

Bloober Team is currently working on the Silent Hill 2 Remake, which has been confirmed as a PS5 console exclusive for 12 months.
