Naughty Dog‘s Neil Druckmann has stated that the developer is “done” and “moving on” from the Uncharted series. Those hoping for an “Uncharted 5” made by the same developer will be disappointed to learn that Naughty Dog’s “final brushstroke” is done and that there has been no pressure from Sony to make a sequel.
Naughty Dog is moving on from Uncharted
In an interview with Buzzfeed, Druckmann initially started answering a query about The Last of Us Part 3, but brought up Uncharted to compare to. He explained that, while Uncharted has been “insanely successful,” nobody has been forcing them to consider a sequel.
He went on to confirm that Naughty Dog has been “able to put [its] final brushstroke on that story and say that [its] done. [It’s] moving on.”
For us, Uncharted was insanely successful — Uncharted 4 was one of our best selling games — and we’re able to put our final brushstroke on that story and say that we’re done. We’re moving on.
While Naughty Dog might be done with Uncharted, it’s possible that another developer will take the reins and lead Nathan Drake on new adventures. Recent rumors pointed towards an Uncharted reboot that wouldn’t be developed by Naughty Dog. With today’s news, these rumors become all the more interesting.
