The data has started rolling in, and Hogwarts Legacy sales are off to an excellent start. Despite ongoing controversy surrounding the game, Hogwarts Legacy’s physical sales are 80 percent higher than Elden Ring at U.K. retail, with the game yet to release on the PS4!
Hogwarts Legacy sales make it UK’s biggest Harry Potter game of all time
According to GamesIndustry.biz, Hogwarts Legacy is now U.K.’s biggest Harry Potter game launch of all time, a record previously held by 2001’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Download data has yet to be revealed, but digital sales are also expected to be strong.
Platform split of sales reveals that Hogwarts Legacy PS5 version sold the most copies – 82 percent compared to Xbox Series X’s 18 percent. However, download data is expected to somewhat narrow that gap as the digital-only Xbox Series S is a popular console in the U.K.
Coming in at no. 2 in the U.K. after Hogwarts Legacy is God of War Ragnarok – the best-selling PS5 exclusive released thus far. Dead Space dropped down to the seventh spot, with the rest of the chart being dominated by Nintendo Switch games.
