Actor Troy Baker has revealed he “never was promised a role” in The Last of Us HBO TV show despite voicing the main protagonist Joel Miller in the games. Baker did grab a role within the show as James, a character he initially didn’t recognize. However, James was an upgrade on the character he initially thought he might be playing.
Troy Baker thought he was a Clicker in The Last of Us TV show
Baker told Vulture that he wasn’t guaranteed a role in The Last of Us TV series but when co-creator Neil Druckmann and showrunner Craig Mazin told him there was a part available, he thought he was going to be a Clicker. As Baker told IGN he would have been “a terrible clicker, by the way,” it’s likely for the best that Druckmann and Mazin offered him the part of James instead. The problem is that when asked to take on the role, Baker didn’t remember who he was: “I’m like, “Oh, dude, thank you. Who’s James?””
The penultimate episode featured James as one of the antagonists in charge of another group of survivors. Episode 8 has become the highest-rated episode of the show despite the continued lack of infected. The final episode is set to air this coming weekend but will “massively” divide fans.
