Horizon Forbidden West DLC Requires Finishing Base Story

Guerrilla Games has confirmed that in order to play Horizon Forbidden West DLC Burning Shores, players are required to beat the base game’s campaign. This includes the final quest: Singularity.

Horizon Forbidden West DLC can be pre-ordered now

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores will launch on April 19th. Pre-orders for the expansion went live yesterday, revealing a price tag of $19.99.

Those who pre-order will get the following in-game bonuses:

  • Blacktide Dye Outfit (available at the first dye merchant)
  • Blacktide Sharpshot Bow (available from the first merchant in the Burning Shores)

Burning Shores picks up after the events of Horizon Forbidden West, hence the requirement to beat the base game. Once players finish the final quest, Aloy will receive a call on her Focus, which starts Burning Shores.

The expansion will take players to a dangerous new region south of the Tenakth Clan Lands. Expect new stories, NPCs, and machines. In case you’re wondering why pre-orders are live when we’ve barely seen anything of Burning Shores, fret not, Guerrilla Games plans to share more details “very soon.”

The expansion will be available exclusively on the PS5. Guerrilla Games has said that a last-gen version would compromise its vision, so PS4 players will need to make the jump to current-gen.
