A major Australian retailer has generated some buzz by listing PS5 Slim on its website. A slimmer version of the console with a detachable disc drive has been rumored for a while, leading to fans believing an announcement is imminent.
Retailer’s PS5 slim listing is an error
The retailer in question is The Good Guys, which sells consumer electronics in Australia. The listing states:
The new look, slimmer PlayStation 5 – incredibly vivid, vibrant colors with breathtaking HDR visuals and immersion – whether you’re gaming or streaming movies and TV shows.
As pointed out by ResetEra user TiredOldHack, the text above originally appeared on the website when PS4 Slim was introduced. Someone reused the old text and changed “PlayStation 4″ to PlayStation 5.” Additionally, the listing for a PS5 Slim has been on the website since January 2021 but hasn’t been noticed because users are being redirected to another page to purchase the console. This is simply an unused page that hasn’t been pulled.
Want a PS5 Slim? Don’t lose hope just yet! A recent report claims that a slimmer model with a detachable disc drive will be rolled out later in 2023. It’s expected to be announced at the rumored PlayStation Showcase in June.
