Resident Evil 4 Remake sales on PS5 and PS4 have drastically outperformed those on Xbox Series X|S and PC. RE4 was the best-selling game for March 2023, despite the fact it didn’t launch until March 24 and only had eight days to make an impact on the chart.
Resident Evil 4 Remake PS5 and PS4 sales double those of Xbox and PC
Approximately 65% of RE4’s UK sales were on PS5 and PS4, almost double the combined 35% of sales on Xbox (20%) and PC (15%) according to data from GSD (thanks GamesIndustry.biz). This is most likely a side effect of the increased PS5 sales while Xbox has declined.
Last-gen players would need to pick up a PS4 copy seeing as the game is not on Xbox One, but the PlayStation Store top downloads for March 2023 hinted that last-gen sales were only a small proportion of the overall totals. Resident Evil 4 sits comfortably at the top of the PS5 download chart, beating MLB The Show 23 and Hogwarts Legacy. On the contrary, RE4 only hit #5 on PS4 in US and Canada and #9 in Europe.
Resident Evil 4 has not sold quite as well as RE Village and RE 2 Remake, although it is currently outselling RE 3 Remake. Free content like the Mercenaries update and the upcoming PSVR 2 patch will only serve to help sales in the future.
