Helldivers 2 PS5 Exclusivity Doesn't Make Sense to Xbox Boss

Helldivers 2 Xbox Version Reportedly Being Considered

Rumor has it that Sony Interactive Entertainment is in “very early,” preliminary talks for a Helldivers 2 Xbox version. However, Xbox players shouldn’t get their hopes up just yet because the discussions, if real, might not pan out the way they hope.

Xbox boss previously expressed his desire to see Helldivers 2 on the platform

The rumor comes from none other than XboxEra’s Nick “Spheshal_Nick” Baker, who has a controversial reputation when it comes to leaks. We ask our readers to take all of Baker’s leaks with a huge grain of salt, but we can’t deny that he’s often been right. More recently, XboxEra revealed that a few of Microsoft’s exclusives are going multiplatform (as opposed to just Hi-Fi Rush), which ended being true.

There isn’t much to the rumor itself beyond Baker stressing in a podcast that under PlayStation’s interim boss Hiroki Totoki, Helldivers 2’s Xbox version is in “very, very early” stages of consideration. Totoki also happens to be Sony’s CFO, and only recently, he expressed concerns about PlayStation division’s profit margins.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer previously said that live service games like Helldivers 2 skipping Xbox doesn’t make sense to him. Microsoft will soon be releasing Sea of Thieves on PS5.
