PlayStation Uploads Indiana Jones Trailer Without Xbox Branding

Gamescom’s penultimate reveal was the release window for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for PS5. It further solidifies Xbox‘s move to bringing its first party titles to other platforms. While everyone knows Machine Games‘ next title is an Xbox game, a recently uploaded trailer on PlayStation‘s official YouTube channel noticeably lacks any branding from Microsoft’s gaming brand.

Why is Xbox Games Studio’s absence from the PlayStation Indiana Jones trailer weird?

As seen in the trailer below, there is absolutely no mention of Xbox or Microsoft in PlayStation’s Indiana Jones and the Great Circle trailer. It begins with the iconic PlayStation logo, and ends with its “Play Has No Limits” banner. The title card at the end only mentions PS5 and its Spring 2025 release window. While Xbox and Microsoft are absent, Bethesda, Lucasfilm, and Machine Games branding is present.

Typically, this would not be too out of the ordinary. After all, PlayStation and Xbox are competitors to some extent. In that regard, it makes a bit of sense why Microsoft and Xbox branding is completely absent. However, what makes this specific scenario weird is when the tables are turned.

MLB The Show is a baseball game developed by San Diego Studios, a first party development studio for Sony Interactive Entertainment. The professional baseball game was a PlayStation exclusive until the release of MLB The Show 21, when it became multiplatform. In Xbox’s MLB The Show trailers, like the one seen below, the PlayStation Studios branding is seen right from the jump. While it doesn’t show any PS5 or PS4 branding, the PlayStation Studios logo is present on the “Available Now” screen.

It is unclear why Xbox and Microsoft branding is absent from PlayStations Indiana Jones trailer. It’s just a bit odd considering Xbox seems to be unfazed by including its competition’s branding in its marketing materials.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is developed by Machine Games and published by Bethesda. It stars Troy Baker voicing the titular character. The game can be wishlisted on PS5 now.
