Update: This leaker’s information is now being disputed so take this story with a grain of salt.
Original story follows…
Rumor has it that Sony won’t be showcasing any first-party PlayStation Studios games at the State of Play September 2024. The event is all but confirmed, and we know it will be a State of Play rather than a full-fledged Showcase, but those expecting first-party exclusives showing off the power of the upcoming PS5 Pro might be a tad disappointed.
PlayStation State of Play September 2024 date and details leaked
This information comes from a mysterious X account BrianTheInsider that purportedly belongs to someone who either got their hands on PS5 Pro marketing material or YouTube’s backend. The account was created to specifically leak PS5 Pro information (price, editions, etc), much of which — as pointed out by Reddit users — has proven to be true, like the techical presentation’s date and runtime.
BrianTheInsider claims that the State of Play will take place on Thursday, September 19, and will focus on indies as well as third-party games that take advantage of the PS5 Pro. “Don’t expect any news on PlayStation Studio titles just yet!” they wrote.
BrianTheInsider’s X account has since been temporarily restricted by the website, and it remains unclear why.
We’ll find out in due course what Sony is up to.
