The wait is finally over! The PS5 Pro has been revealed with a slew of new improvements over its predecessor. And players won’t have to wait long to get their hands on one.
What are all the details for PS5 Pro
In the PS5 Technical Showcase, the PS5 Pro was formally revealed. Mark Cerny discussed what they call the “big three” features for the enhanced console. This includes a larger GPU, advanced ray tracing, and AI driven upscaling.
AI driven upscaling essentially cuts graphics mode options. Simply put, players will get all the visual bells and whistles like 4K resolution, with ray tracing without the typical degradation found on the current PS5 hardware. This was shown using The Last of Us Part II, Spider-Man 2, and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, where side by side comparisons of PS5 graphics and performance modes were compared to PS5 Pro’s visual output.
The larger GPU allows for more details to shine through. It will help improve lighting, and visual effects, as well as enhance hair, and skin detail during cinematics. To showcase this, Horizon: Forbidden West was shown with these enhanced visual updates.
PS5 Pro’s advanced ray tracing allows for higher levels of ray traced reflections without sacrificing performance. For example, as seen in the video, Gran Turismo 7 will be able to cast ray traced reflections on other cars while still maintaining 60 frames per second during gameplay, which was not possible before. Hogwarts Legacy is also shown with improvements to ray traced reflections and shadows for a more realistic picture.
The PS5 Pro launches November 7, 2024, for $699.99 in the US. It will not include a disk drive. The vertical stand for the console will be sold separately. Make sure to check back on the site for the latest news on Sony’s enhanced console.
