Astro Bot Update 1.003.000 Seemingly Fixed Save Data Issue

Following Astro Bot’s launch last week, a large amount of players reported a save data issue that led to lost saves. However, Astro Bot update 1.003.000 has seemingly fixed the bug.

What save data issue is fixed with Astro Bot update 1.003.000?

Astro Bot players reported a save data issue in which the autosave feature was not working properly. Essentially, a save file would not be created until the player quit to the main menu. This meant if the game crashed, which does seem to be an issue for some players, the save is lost.

It seems Team Asobi has heard the feedback and has patched the issue with the new Astro Bot update 1.003.000. In a Reddit thread about the update, several users tested to see if the issue persisted, and it looks to be fixed. Reddit user ConfusedCartman gave specifics on what they did to test the issue.

“I tried finishing the first level then quitting the game without returning to the main menu. My save was still there when I rebooted,” says ConfusedCartman. “I don’t know if this patch helps with overheating yet but I can at least play without fear of losing significant progress.”

The thread does confirm that several issues still persist. According to some users, Astro Bot still crashes, and causes overheating. It also confirms that the update only contains bug fixes, and not new content.

Astro Bot launched last week exclusively for PS5. In our review, Shaan Joshi wrote, “In a world of by-the-numbers sequels and soulless cash grabs, Astro Bot stands as an oasis, an absolute masterpiece packed to the brim with charm, creativity, and a genuine love for video games, old and new.” So… it’s pretty good!

Someone who may not think Astro Bot is “pretty good” is Days Gone director John Garvin. In a recent social media post, he criticized Bend Studio for allowing Team Asobi to create a cute little robot out of protagonist Deacon St. John.
