Astro Bot Enjoys Strong Launch Sales in US and UK

It is clear Team Asobi made something special with Astro Bot. Critically, the 3D platformer has seen favorable reviews, bringing life to a genre that doesn’t often see the spotlight unless it’s developed by Nintendo. However, critical success does not necessarily corelate with sales. Fortunately for Sony, it seems the lauded game is selling well in both the US and UK.

How strong were Astro Bot sales in US and UK?

Astro Bot is doing fairly well in both the US and UK. Based on digital and physical sales numbers, GamesIndustry.biz head Christopher Dring says the game has seen “solid” first week sales specifically in the UK. Its launch week sales are 21% higher than Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart launch sales. It is only behind Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, which is the UK’s fastest selling Warhammer game.

Circana Executive Director and Video Game Industry Analyst Mat Piscatella gave more insight on Astro Bot’s US sales on Bluesky, stating it had a “solid week 1.”

“Don’t usually talk weeklies but wanted to add some context to the UK reporting from last week,” wrote Piscatella. “Across both physical & digital, Astro Bot ranked 2nd in unit sales in the US for w/e Sept 7th (behind only NBA 2K25), and the Astro Bot DualSense was the week’s best-selling accessory. Solid week 1.”

Overall, it appears Astro Bot may not be blowing people’s socks off sales wise, but is doing decently enough. Additionally, one could have probably predicted the game’s themed DualSense controller would be the week’s best selling accessory considering how often the game pad sells out.

In our review, Shaan Joshi gave Astro Bot a perfect 10, saying, “In a world of by-the-numbers sequels and soulless cash grabs, Astro Bot stands as an oasis, an absolute masterpiece packed to the brim with charm, creativity, and a genuine love for video games, old and new.”
