Black Myth: Wukong DLC Release Date Window Reportedly Set

Black Myth: Wukong is one of the most popular games of 2024. China based developer Game Science is no longer a stranger to success, reaching impressive sales numbers for the action RPG. With its audience seemingly growing each day, many may be wondering when Black Myth: Wukong’s previously announced DLC releases. It turns out it may not be too long until players see more of the Destined One’s adventures.

When is the Black Myth: Wukong DLC release date window?

According to China based publishing and gaming consultant Daniel Camilo, Black Myth: Wukong DLC launches near the Chinese New Year in 2025. An exact date isn’t given, but that window means it may launch around January 29, 2025. Camilo does not name their sources, but says they are “very reliable, first hand sources.”

He also shared his expectations for Black Myth: Wukong DLC sales. Despite now selling over 20 million units, he predicts less than 20% of users will purchase the added content. He attributes the game’s difficulty, as well as novelty and national pride wearing down for Chinese consumers, as potential factors for his prediction.

“The game is too challenging, and at least a few millions of the people who bought the game in China are not core/hardcore gamers,” says Camilo. “For many of those consumers, dlc simply won’t be an interesting proposition.”

“Needless to say that plans can always change,” continues Camilo. “While teams have internal plans and roadmaps, nothing is hardly ever set in stone when it comes to release dates in gaming.”

Black Myth: Wukong DLC was confirmed to be in the works earlier this month by Game Science shareholder Daniel Wu. Not much is known about the upcoming content, but a recent leak suggests it may feature Bull King as either a playable character or boss battle.

Black Myth: Wukong continues to be successful despite the controversy surrounding the game. A good amount of PS5 players are enjoying the action RPG as it was the best selling game in August on the PlayStation Store.
