Sony has just released PS5 system software update 24.06-10.01.00 to address the issues introduced by the last major update, which went live on September 12. As previously reported, players were facing graphics issues and glitches in a large number of games, particularly Final Fantasy 16, prompting a statement from Square Enix.

The update comes with succinct patch notes:

  • We’ve improved system software performance and stability.

We’ve never been happier to see a stability update, and highly encourage our readers to download this one right away because some of the issues players were reporting following the last patch went beyond graphical glitches in games. Apparently, a small number of PS5 Slim owners found their detachable disc drives malfunctioning after updating their consoles, among other issues.

As a reminder, September 12’s firmware update also introduced the Welcome Hub, which is slowly being rolled out to players worldwide, starting with the United States. If you do not receive the Welcome Hub with today’s update, make sure to manually check for system feature updates via your PS5 console’s settings menu as some players have managed to push the update through this function.
