Fans reaction to PlayStation State of Play September 2024

PlayStation Players Pleasantly Surprised by State of Play September 2024

Following a number of lackluster events, September 2024’s PlayStation State of Play was well-received by the gaming community. While Ghost of Yotei was obviously the highlight of the show, it wasn’t the only announcement that fans were pleasantly surprised by.

What players are saying about PlayStation State of Play September 2024

PS Plus members have been clamoring for Dino Crisis, and they got exactly that along with Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen when Sony announced them as part of the upcoming Premium lineup. “This is big,” a subscriber wrote on Reddit. “Wait, is this real???!!” wrote another.

PS Plus members got another treat when Dead Space was announced as part of October 2024’s Essential lineup. The quality of monthly lineup took a bit of a hit in recent months, so players expressed their delight at seeing the critically-acclaimed remake.

Then, there was the announcement of Astro Bot and Stellar Blade DLC, with both getting crossovers from popular games, and the surprise return of the Lunar series. “Absolute RPG nostalgia overload, wow!” wrote one player. “We’re eatin’, we’re eatin’ good,” wrote another.

Palworld getting a surprise release on PS5 also didn’t go unnoticed. We weren’t expecting an announcement until Tokyo Game Show, but here we are.

Last but not least, brief hardware updates including PS5’s gorgeous Chroma Collection were much welcome, making for a well-rounded State of Play.

“A nice state of play with a lot to be excited about,” a fan opined. Not everyone agreed, of course, but the general consensus is that yesterday’s event was a better showing than what we’ve become accustomed to.
