Ghost of Yotei Actor Being Harassed by Trolls Already

The usual social media grifters are at it again, and this time, they’re after Ghost of Yotei actor Erika Ishii. The game’s reveal at this week’s PlayStation State of Play was met with a positive response from fans. But a small section of the community, which spends more time incessantly complaining about games than actually playing them, found her social media handles. All hell broke loose.

Ghost of Yotei actor being targeted by trolls, prompting the community to offer support

As soon as Sucker Punch Productions revealed on X that Ghost of Yotei protagonist Atsu was played by Ishii, their replies were clogged by absurd complaints of forced “girlboss” narrative, historical revisionism (as if we take history lessons from a game), and “woke” (whatever the hell that means in this context).

In the midst of it all, trolls discovered that Ishii has no preferred pronouns, is a member of the LGBTQ community, and… wait for it… has a hairstyle not to their liking. Seeing this, Ishii started blocking people, which further frustrated them.

“Woke and unhinged,” claimed one grifter, who didn’t waste time producing a YouTube video on this all-important subject. “The actress for Ghost of Tsushima sequel is actively blocking people,” moaned another waste of space, who feels entitled to have access to Ishii’s social media. “That will work wonders for the game.”

The gaming community and industry professionals have since been speaking out in support of Ishii, with former Sony boss Shawn Layden chiming in to suggest that the trolls either make their own game or refrain from buying what they don’t want to play. We agree.
